2022 was one of the wettest years since we’ve lived here. The vines fully recovered after the drought and grew a healthy canopy with better than average crop load. The cool, long ripening season has created lower alcohol wine with ripe flavours and soft tannins giving the 2022 reds plenty of flavour and structure. It shows ripe cherries and red berries with bright crimson hues. Ageing in older French and American barriques contributes structure with minimal oak flavour input. Delicious now and given good conditions will suit short term cellaring. Serve with Swiss brown mushrooms, grilled haloumi, eggplant and dried tomato, wrapped in proscuitto with truffle and parsnip mash.
