2022 was one of the wettest years since we’ve lived here. The vines fully recovered after the drought and grew a healthy canopy with better than average crop load. The cool, long ripening season has created lower alcohol wine with ripe flavours and soft tannins giving the 2022 reds plenty of flavour and structure. This wine shows the classic varietal characters of spice and vibrant savoury dark fruit paired with a fine persistent tannin structure. Maturation in a combination of aged French and American oak has added complexity without dominating the fruit. Delicious now but has plenty of ageing potential if you can keep it away from your mates for a few years! This wine will show best if decanted.
